WIZARD’S TOWER ANNOUNCES WIZ DUO SERIES
Wizard’s Tower is delighted to announce the creation of the Wiz Duo novella series. Each book will contain two novella-length stories from different writers. The series will be edited by Roz Clarke and Joanne Hall. Two books are already under contract. Book 1 includes stories by David Gullen and Ben Wright, while book 2 features Juliet Kemp and E.M. Faulds.
These initial titles had originally be acquired for publication by Grimbold books, which has since ceased trading.
The first two Wiz Duo books will be available early in 2025. Submissions for later volumes will open in the New Year.
Publisher, Cheryl Morgan, said, “While I love reading novellas, I have always struggled with them from a business point of view. However, the Grimbold novellas needed rescuing, so we had to come up with a solution. The two-novella book concept will allow us to do better covers that we could afford for single novellas, and hopefully they will be interesting for readers too. Sadly modern printing techniques preclude us doing the stories back to back, but we can at least keep the spirit of the legendary Ace Doubles alive.”
Jo Hall said “I’m delighted to be working with Cheryl to bring these novellas out. They are all great, all very different and I hope you’ll enjoy them! Roz and I are both looking forward to reading your submissions next year, and we hope that this will be the start of a long and entertaining series.”
Roz Clark said “We’re very grateful that Cheryl has allowed us to bring these marvellous stories to print. The novella is a tricky proposition for publishers, but in my view, as a reader, is an incredibly satisfying and enjoyable form. I’m thrilled that we’re able to take this forward.”
Juliet Kemp said, “I’m thrilled to have ‘Song, Stone, Scale, Bone’ rehomed at Wizard’s Tower, and as a reader I love the two-novellas-in-one format. I’m looking forward to reading future volumes. ”
David Gullen said, “A novella is a special thing, a story that knows exactly what it is, and knows that it comfortably fits into neither of the two conventional narrative worlds of the short story or the novel. That difference lets me, the writer, tell stories that could not otherwise be told so you, the reader, can read of characters and worlds that might otherwise never have existed. And so a novella needs its own home. With the new Wiz Duo series from Wizards Tower, that perfect home has been created.”
