Wizard’s Tower Announces Wiz Duo Book 3

Wizard’s Tower is delighted to announce the third book in the Wiz Duo novella series. The stories in this volume will be ‘The Sheltering Flame’ by Ruthanna Emrys and ‘Walking A Wounded Land’ by Andrew Knighton. The stories were acquired and edited by Roz Clarke and Joanne Hall.

Emrys said: “I’m delighted to share this strange little story that’s so close to my heart. I hope readers are inspired to answer the door for strange guests, do a bit of home repair, or both.”

Knighton said, “Walking a Wound Land is one of the most grounded things I’ve written, dealing with grief, fractured relationships, and how we relate to the world as we move through it. I’m delighted that it’s found a home at Wizard’s Tower Press, to sit alongside some of my favourite books of the past few years.”

Hall said, “Often when I’m reading submissions I don’t know quite what I’m looking for until I see it, but Ruthanna’s story with its themes of found family led me to the question of ‘What makes a home?’ Is it the people within it, both human and Fae, or the familiar landscape that it nestles in? When you’re coming back from away, at what point are you ‘nearly home’? So when we read Andrew’s story about navigating the landscape of grief, as well as the physical landscape that you inhabit, it felt like the two stories fit together perfectly.”

Clarke said: “Although these two stories are quite different in tone, both explore themes of magic embedded in landscape, and questions of freedom versus control, and the power of friendship. Both tackle, in subtle and clever ways, the conflict between community and capitalism. Most importantly, both are delightfully engaging, skillfully written and altogether a pleasure to read.”

Publication is expected in October 2025.
